Frequently asked questions
Is an invoice generated here legally valid?
In most places an invoice is valid when it clearly identifies the seller and the buyer, describes what was supplied, states the amounts and carries a date. That is exactly what this tool produces, and it is the same document an accountant would lay out by hand.
Two caveats: some countries require a tax registration number, VAT/GST breakdown or sequential numbering on invoices, and a handful mandate government-approved e-invoicing formats. Check the rules that apply to your business — this tool helps you produce the document, it does not give tax or legal advice.
Can I save my business details for next time?
Yes. Tick “Save my business details in this browser” and your logo, business name, address, contact details, tax number, currency and note templates are written to your browser's local storage. Reopen the page and they are already filled in.
Separately — and whether or not you tick that box — the tool remembers the last document number used on this device. That is a single counter, nothing else, and it is what lets the next invoice be suggested as INV-2026-002 instead of starting again at 001.
Everything stays on that one device in that one browser. Clearing your site data, using a private window or switching browsers starts you from a blank form. There is no “sync” because there is no server to sync with.
Is my client data stored anywhere?
No. There is no backend, no database and no account system behind this page. Client names, addresses and amounts are held in your browser's memory while you type and are used only to draw the preview and build the PDF file that is downloaded to your device.
Nothing is transmitted off your machine by the tool itself. The only third-party content on the page is the advertising and analytics described in the Privacy Policy.
Is it really free? What's the catch?
Free, complete, and with no catch inside the tool: no premium tier, no paywalled templates, no per-document fee and no watermark. The site is paid for by clearly labelled display advertising, so you will see one or two ad slots on the page. Ads never appear inside the form or next to the download button, and we do not use pop-ups or auto-refreshing units.
Can I change the currency, and do you use live exchange rates?
You can choose from 24 currencies and the symbol, decimal places and digit grouping follow that currency. We deliberately do not fetch live exchange rates — doing so would mean sending a request to a third party every time you opened the page, which cuts against the privacy promise. Enter the amount in the currency you actually charged.
