1. The short version
The Invoice & Receipt Generator at receipt.clicktools.app is a static web page. It has no user accounts, no database, no server-side application code and no upload endpoint. When you type a client name, an amount or upload a logo, that information is processed by JavaScript running inside your own browser and is used only to draw the on-screen preview and to assemble the PDF file that your browser downloads.
We cannot read your invoices. We have nowhere to read them from.
2. Information the tool processes (locally only)
- Business details you enter — business name, address, email, phone, tax or registration number, and an optional logo image.
- Client details you enter — name, address and email of the person you are billing.
- Document content — document number, dates, payment method, line items, tax rate, discount, notes and currency choice.
None of the above is transmitted to us. It stays in your browser's memory for the lifetime of the page, and in the PDF file you choose to download.
3. Local storage on your device
The page uses your browser's localStorage for three small, strictly local purposes:
- Theme preference (
crt.theme) — whether you chose the day or night theme. - Cookie consent choice (
crt.cookieConsent) — so the consent bar is shown once and not on every visit. - Saved business details (
crt.business.v1,crt.prefs.v1,crt.docCounter.v1) — only written when you tick “Save my business details in this browser”. This can include your logo as an image data URL, your business name and contact details, your preferred currency, your note templates, and a single counter used to suggest your next document number.
Local storage never leaves your device and is not readable by us. You can remove it at any time: untick the save option, press the Reset button, or clear site data for receipt.clicktools.app in your browser settings (usually under Privacy & Security → Site data). Using a private or incognito window starts every session from a blank form.
4. Cookies
4.1 Essential cookies and storage
These are strictly necessary for the features you explicitly use: remembering your theme, remembering your consent choice, and (if you opt in) remembering your business details. They contain no advertising identifiers and are not shared with third parties.
4.2 Advertising cookies
This site is free because it carries advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads on this site, to measure ad performance, to limit how often you see the same ad, and — where you have given consent — to personalise ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or by using the NAI opt-out page and the EDAA Your Online Choices service.
- A list of the third-party vendors and ad partners Google may work with is published at Google's Ad Technology Providers page.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, may also use the DoubleClick/“DART” cookie to serve ads based on prior visits. You can opt out of the DART cookie at any time through the settings link above.
Where a consent mechanism is shown, non-essential advertising cookies are only enabled after you choose “Accept all”. Choosing “Reject non-essential” keeps the site fully functional — you will simply see fewer or no personalised ads.
4.3 Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics (for example page counts and referrers) to understand which tools are useful. Where such analytics use cookies or identifiers, they are treated as non-essential and are covered by the same consent choice. We do not use analytics to profile individual invoices, and no content you enter into the tool is ever sent to an analytics provider.
5. Hosting and server logs
The site is delivered as static files by a third-party hosting and content-delivery provider. Like most web hosts, that provider may record standard technical log data when your browser requests the page — typically the IP address used to make the request, browser type, operating system, referring page and timestamp. This is processed by the host for security, abuse prevention and reliability, not by us as an application, and it is not linked to anything you type into the tool.
Loading the PDF library and font files from this site (or from the jsDelivr content-delivery network if the local copy is unavailable) may also be visible to those providers as ordinary static file requests.
6. Children
The service is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the tool stores nothing on a server, there is no such data for us to hold in any case.
7. Data retention
We retain nothing you enter. Anything stored in your browser's local storage persists until you clear it. Downloaded PDFs are saved by your browser to a location you choose and are entirely under your control.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR in the UK and EU, the CCPA/CPRA in California, and NDPR/NDPA in Nigeria) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because the tool holds no personal data on our servers, there is generally nothing for us to access or delete. For data held in your own browser, use your browser's “clear site data” controls. For advertising personalisation, use the opt-out links in section 4.2. For anything else, contact us using the details in section 10 and we will respond within 30 days.
9. Third-party links
This site may link to external websites, including advertisers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.
